James R. Beavers, 36, of the 500 block of Cumberland Trail, was charged with two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence/fourth violation, and DUI with a blood alcohol content above .16, Class 4 counts of DUI on a suspended or revoked license and driving on a revoked or suspended license/third offense, as well as misdemeanor counts of DUI and driving on a revoked license. Beavers was released in July 2013, according to the IDOC website. He had been sentenced in 2011 to nine years in prison following his conviction on arson and aggravated battery to a police officer following an November 2009 incident. Called “evil” by prosecutors and a danger to the public and his ex-girlfriend, prosecutors said Beavers was in a drunken rage when he burned $500 worth of his girlfriend’s clothing at his parent’s Elgin house and that, days after he was released on bail, he then went to her apartment with a knife. ….MORE |
