Regina Gallegos, age 24 of Indio, and Patricia Espinoza, age 42 of Indio, were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Both Gallegos and Espinoza were booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio.

Statistics show that alcohol and drug impaired driving can lead to serious injury and/or death. The city of Coachella and the Coachella Police Department remain steadfast in its effort of reducing driver-impaired traffic collisions within the city, while increasing public safety and awareness regarding the dangers of impaired driving.

This checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1!

On Friday, September 4, 2015, beginning at 7:00 PM, the Coachella Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint in the area of Ave. 50 and Van Buren Blvd. The checkpoint was one of many DUI and traffic-related operations conducted throughout the year, in a collaborative effort to deter drunk driving while increasing public safety. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies, while also yielding considerable cost savings of $6 for every $1 spent.  Ninety percent of California drivers approve of checkpoints.

Approximately 452 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Sixteen vehicles were diverted to secondary screening.

• Eight field sobriety tests were conducted;
• Two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs;
• Three drivers were cited for driving without a valid driver’s license;
• One driver was cited for a miscellaneous equipment violation;
• Two vehicles were towed.

The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office announced that after a thorough review of the evidence collected by the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team [STAR] (consisting of Medford Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office) concerning the fatal crash that occurred on April 2, 2015 near the intersection of Butte Falls Highway and Reese Creek Road, no criminal charges can be filed. On April 2, 2015, at approximately 11:56am, a witness called 9-1-1 to report a Plymouth Voyager mini-van driving erratically and all over the road, at a high rate of speed westbound on Butte Falls Highway. The next call came in to 9-1-1 at 12:05pm to report that a collision between a mini-van and semi-truck had just occurred on Butte Falls Highway.

Jerey Kuchera (DOB 5/18/59) was driving an unloaded log truck eastbound on Butte Falls Highway at approximately fifty miles per hour, in a fifty-five mph zone, when he observed the previously mentioned mini-van traveling westbound cross into his eastbound lane. Mr. Kuchera applied his brakes and tried to take his truck toward the drop-off on the shoulder of the road but ultimately was still struck head-on by the mini-van, in his lane.

Amy Foster (DOB 1/21/81) was driving the mini-van and her four children between the ages of four and nine were the passengers. Ms. Foster and her six-year-old child were pronounced dead at the scene, and the three surviving children suffered serious injuries eventually requiring life-flight to Portland.

Those three children continue to recover from those injuries. Mr. Kuchera suffered some minor injuries from the crash. The scene of the crash was investigated by the STAR Team.

Officers marked roadway evidence, photographed the scene, collected witness statements, and constructed a diagram of the crash. The conclusion of the investigation was that Ms. Foster was traveling too fast and failed to negotiate the slight bend in the road. This caused her vehicle to travel into the eastbound lane and on-coming traffic.

The investigation also revealed that Ms. Foster had cannabinoids, which are chemicals found in marijuana, in her blood. Mr. Kuchera consented to a Drug Recognition Exam at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and was found to not be under the influence of any intoxicants. Based upon the completed investigation, there is absolutely no evidence of culpability on Mr. Kuchera, and no criminal charges will be filed.

However, if Ms. Foster had survived it is likely that criminal charges would’ve been filed against her based upon the conclusion of the investigation.

A one-time high school and college football star accused of driving under the influence of drugs and causing a crash that killed a Caltrans subcontractor on a North County freeway onramp pleaded not guilty Wednesday to gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges.

Reginald Grigsby Jr., 31, was ordered held on $750,000 bail and faces up to 10 years in state prison if convicted of the felony counts, said Deputy District Attorney Aimee McLeod. Grigsby was was under the influence of a “central nervous system depressant” when he lost control of his Mitsubishi Montero on the connector from South Centre City Parkway to southbound Interstate 15 in Escondido shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, the prosecutor alleged.

The vehicle veered off the roadway, rolled down a slope and struck Murrieta resident Leonardo Sandoval, who was repairing a sprinkler system in a median next to the freeway entrance.

Sandoval, the 21-year-old father of a year-old boy and an employee of Perris-based Pacific Restoration Group, died at the scene.

Grigsby charged with attempted murder of mother; was shot by father

May 29, 2009  –  A former San Diego State University football player, who is accused of attacking his mother in her Fallbrook home before he was shot by his police captain father, pleaded not guilty Thursday to attempted murder.

Reginald Grigsby Jr., 25, is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the attack early last Saturday morning.

Judge Marshall Hockett ordered Grigsby, who reportedly suffers from mental illness, held in lieu of $1 million bail.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff‘s Department, Grigsby went into his parents’ home, and an argument with his mother, Desirah Grigsby, turned violent.

His father, Oceanside police Capt. Reginald Grigsby, had to retrieve his gun and shoot his son to stop the attack, investigators said.

Both mother and son were hospitalized.

The younger Grigsby played safety for the Aztecs between 2003 and 2006. He was a star player at El Camino High School in Oceanside.

The judge set a readiness conference for June 9 and a June 11 preliminary hearing date. ….MORE

The homicide charges stem from the deaths of siblings Miles Hannagan, 19, and Charlotte Hannagan, 16. Miles Hannagan was a student at West Chester University, while his sister was a junior at Downingtown West High School at the time of their deaths. The assault charges stem from the injuries he caused to the siblings’ parents, Paul Hannagan and Margaret Hannagan. Brown killed U. S. Army Veteran “Pappy” Robinson and his dog “Snowball” in his drunken joyride to hell

Nelson Boyd Lee Robinson Sr., “Pappy”, left this world with his beloved friend and dog “Snowball” on Saturday, November 1, 2014 as a result of a tragic car accident. “Snowball” was his everyday companion and sidekick and naturally was riding right by his side. As was his nature, he was taking care of everything for everyone at the moment of his death.
“Pappy” was loved so much by family, friends, and those who met him for only one time. He never met a stranger and as many remember him “he would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it.”
Nelson was a US Army veteran having served in combat during the Korean War in the 424th Field Artillery Battalion, Company B.
Over the years of his life he worked hard to provide for his family of seven. He worked many years in the apple orchards and road construction. Nelson was later employed by General Motors for 20 years and upon retirement began his career with his love of auctions, and wheeling and dealing in all his collectibles. He truly believed one man’s junk was “Pappy’s” treasure.
Nelson was born May 11, 1927 in Martinsburg WV to Andrew “Andy” and Elizabeth Hines Robinson. He was one of seven children.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lea Vanorsdale Robinson, who he married July 5, 1951. His sister Bertie Mae Robinson Stilwell also survives him as the last surviving sibling in his family.
Nelson and Mary raised six sons and a daughter and an adopted grandchild over their married lifetime. Nelson is survived by son, Nelson Boyd Robinson, Jr., and wife Joyce; daughter, Connie Elizabeth DeHaven and husband, Dane; son Ronald Lee Robinson; son, Michael Lynn Robinson; son, Edward “Eugene” Robinson and wife, Karen; and son, Randy Lee Robinson and wife, Angie. In addition, Nelson is survived by an adopted grandchild raised by him and Mary, Michael Dustin Robinson and his wife, Melissa.
The “apples of his eye” were his twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Each and every one of Pappy’s babies loved to visit, play, travel, go to auctions, yard sale, flea market and just be with their “Pappy”. He was a two-step dancer and loved to dance. He will be especially remembered as the “life of the party” as he danced the nights away at his granddaughters weddings.

NORTH POTOMAC, Md. (WUSA9) — A parent was present at an alcohol-fueled party in North Potomac that led to a fatal car crash in June, according to documents obtained by WUSA9.

The documents also show that the car carrying Alex Murk, Calvin Li, Sam Ellis and Cameron Siasi was also traveling at least more than 30 miles above the speed limit before the crash.

The four were leaving a house party on June 25 on Dufief Mill Road in North Potomac when their car, driven by Ellis, flew into a fence, hit a tree and landed upside down in a nearby yard. Murk and Li, both riding in the back seat, were killed in the accident. Ellis and Siasi, who was the front-seat passenger, both suffered serious injuries.

The documents show that Ellis was driving at a minimum speed of 65 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. In an interview with investigators, Siasi said he saw the speedometer at 105 miles per hour and said “Sam’s eyes widened” and “Calvin let out a faint scream.”

“We know he was going at least 65 miles an hour and probably much, much more. He was on the wrong side of the road, trying to go around the speed camera,” Montgomery County Police Captain Tom Didone said.

An investigation indicated that Ellis’ car was traveling southbound in the northbound lane on Dufief Mill Road. Siasi told investigators that Ellis, 18, was worried about getting a ticket from a nearby speed camera and someone in the car said ‘if you go fast enough, the camera won’t get you.’

Multiple Alcohol Related Crashes Across Maryland Resulting in Numerous DUI Arrests

(Pikesville, MD) – Troopers investigated several crashes involving impaired drivers and made numerous arrests this past weekend across Maryland.

This past weekend, October 2, 2015 through October 5, 2015, troopers investigated 15 collisions involving suspected impaired drivers.  One of those crashes involved a Maryland State Trooper occurred in the Annapolis area while attempting to stop a suspected drunk driver. He was arrested and charged.

Forty-seven additional motorists were arrest for a vehicle while impaired.  Troopers remind everyone that impaired driving crashes are completely preventable by never driving after you have been drinking.

These collisions included:

Calvert Co. – Route 231 at Latham Court, Prince Frederick, MD – 10:43 p. m. – October 2 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that ran off the roadway into a ditch.  The driver was transported to the hospital.  The driver was subsequently charged with DUI.

Queen Anne’s Co. – Route 301 at Greenspring Avenue, Queen Anne’s, MD – 5:34 p. m. October 2 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash.  The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was arrested.

Charles Co. – Route 257 at Route 254, Cobb Island, MD – 3:13 a. m.  – October 3 – Troopers responded to a crash in which the vehicle struck a tree.  The driver was found to be impaired and was charged with accordingly.

Prince George’s Co. – I-495 at I-95, College Park, MD – 3:30 a. m.  – October 3 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that ran off the roadway into a wooded area.  The driver was observed to be impaired and arrested.

Frederick Co. – Route 27 at Penn Shop Road, Mt. Airy, MD – 7:06 p. m. – October 3 – A vehicle was traveling along Rt. 27 when the driver failed to stop the vehicle before striking another vehicle in the rear.  No one was injured but driver left the scene of the crash.  The driver was located, impairment was observed and the driver was arrested.

Charles Co. – Route 301 at Vernon Road, Waldorf, MD – 7:12 p. m. – October 3 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash involving a car that left the roadway and struck tree.  Driver was flown to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.  Charges are pending.

Anne Arundel Co. – I-695 @ I-295, Linthicum Heights, MD – 10:00 p. m. – October 3 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash.  One of the drivers was found to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged.

Washington Co. – 13,300 block of Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown, MD – 4:24 p. m. – October 3 – The barrack received a call for a two vehicle crash where the at-fault driver appeared to be impaired.  The driver was arrested.

Wicomico Co. – Rockawalkin Road at Levin Dashiell Road, Hebron, MD – 2:50 a. m. – October 4 – Troopers respond to a single vehicle crash.  The driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to spin out of control.  The driver left the scene of the crash and was later located by troopers.  The driver was charged accordingly.

Charles Co. – Route 201 at Glymont Road, Indian Head, MD – 12:26 a. m. – October 5 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash.  One of the drivers was found to be intoxicated and was subsequently charged.

Prince George’s Co. – Route 50 at Route 201, Hyattsville, MD – 5:50 a. m. – October 4 – Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash into a guardrail.  When contact was made with the driver, impairment was observed.  Field test was given and the driver performed poorly.  Driver was arrested.

Prince George’s Co. – U.S. 301 at Governor Bridge Road, Bowie, MD – 5:53 p. m. – October 4 – Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash into a guardrail.  When contact was made with the driver, impairment was observed.  Field test was given and the driver performed poorly.  Driver was arrested.

Allegany Co. – Cherry Lane at Route 36, Frostburg, MD – 7:00 p. m. – October 4 – Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash.  The vehicle struck a guardrail and left the scene of the collision.  Troopers located the driver.  The driver was found to be impaired and was charged.

Baltimore Co. – I-83 in the area of Middletown Road, Parkton, MD – 12:56 a. m. – October 5 – Citizens contacted Golden Ring Barrack in reference to a single vehicle crash.  Once troopers contacted the driver, he demonstrated signs of impairment.  The driver was unable to complete field test successfully.  The driver was arrested.

Upper Marlboro, MD – Oct. 8, 2015— Maryland State Police report that they arrested an impaired driver, later identified as a Howard County Police Officer, who left the scene of a crash that injured another in Prince George’s County on Oct. 7, 2015. The boozing cop also had a child in the car with him, say police. Howard County’s Police Chief announced afterwards that he has suspended the officer.

State Police and Howard County Police identified the alleged hit and run DUI driver as Howard County Police Officer Corey Britton, 37, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, who was operating a Nissan Maxima.  He is charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision involving injury, driving under the influence, driving under the influence while transporting a minor, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and operating a vehicle in a negligent manner.  Britton was released from the barrack per procedure after signing the citations, which is not an admission of guilt.

Maryland State Trooper

The driver of the second car is identified as Deborah McKinney, 54, of Largo, Maryland.  Ms. McKinney was transported by emergency medical personnel to Prince George’s County Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision

Just before 11:00 p.m. yesterday, the Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack was called by McKinney who reported her Cadillac DTS was struck in the rear by a Nissan Maxima.  She also said the male driver appeared unsteady on his feet prior to returning to his car and leaving the scene.  She was able to take pictures of the damage to both vehicles and the tag before the driver left the scene.

When troopers arrived on the scene,  McKinney showed them pictures of the tag and damage to the other vehicle.  A registration check through the Motor Vehicle Administration identified the owner as Howard County Police Officer Britton.

At the address of the registered owner, troopers contacted a male, later identified as Britton, who appeared to be unsteady on his feet.  Britton identified himself as a member of the Howard County Police Department.  Based on the troopers’ observations, Britton was arrested and transported back to the Forestville Barrack for processing.

When a police officer is busted for DUI, it means that another police officer was doing his or her job correctly.  Police officers who are convicted of hit and run and DUI should not rob banks either. Officer Britton might want to look for another job.

EASTON, MD. 10/08/2015— The Easton, Md., Police Department reports that on October 2, 2015,  a juvenile, 17,from Belle Vernon, PA was referred to Juvenile Services for driving under the influence, driving under the influence of CDS and possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier for speeding on Ocean Gateway.

The officer detected the odor of burning marijuana coming from the car resulting in a search of the vehicle revealing marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

The juvenile driver was given field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody when he could not complete the tests properly. The juvenile was later evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert, resulting in the charge of driving under the influence of CDS.

Jacob Hajostek, 19, of Belle Vernon, PA was also issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana.

COACHELLA, CALIF. –  What a bozo!  Police say an alleged DUI driver ran over a mother and her baby while they were in a crosswalk.

According to Sgt. John Clark of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, on Tuesday, October 06, 2015 at 7:17 P.M. the Coachella Police Department responded to the area of Avenue 52 x Douma reference a major injury traffic collision.  The initial investigation revealed a Honda Accord was traveling westbound Avenue 52.  A mother and her infant son, who was in a stroller, were walking across Avenue 52 to Bagdouma Park.

The pedestrians were in a marked crosswalk with the flashing pedestrian lights activated, when they were hit. The mother sustained moderate injuries and infant sustained minor injuries.

Both were taken to a local hospital and treated for their injuries.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Frank Arechiga, 41 years old of La Quinta was evaluated and placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol/ and or drugs.  Arechiga was taken to a local hospital for precaution prior to being booked for felony driving under the influence causing major injuries.

On October 7th, 2015 at approximately 1840 hours, AST responded to a report of two intoxicated individuals riding an ATV. AST responded and contacted Tommy Gumlickpuk who was on his ATV and was trying to get someone to tow him because he had run out of gas. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Tommy Gumlickpuk, age 47 of New Stuyahok, for one count of Driving Under the Influence. Tommy was held at a holding cell in the VPSO Office in New Stuyahok, then was transported to the Dillingham Correctional Center for remand.

On 08/27/2015 at approximately 0953 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an ATV crash in the village of Ouzinkie. Investigation revealed 34 y/o John Alpiak was operating the ATV while under the influence of alcohol. On 10/6/15 at approximately 0930 hours, AST received a report of a male behaving erratically in a pickup truck in a gas station parking lot near Vine Rd. and the Parks Hwy. AST responded and contacted the driver, Donald Turner, 35 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Turner was operating his vehicle while under the influence of an impairing substance. A search of the vehicle revealed multiple items of paraphernalia, marijuana, prescription pills, and heroin. Turner was arrested for DUI, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree. He was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded into custody with bail set at $1,000.

On 10/05/2015 Alaska State Troopers contacted Dale Herrick, 52 of Nikiski, on a traffic stop near mile 88.5 of the Seward Highway following a REDDI report. Investigation revealed Herrick to be under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a firearm. Additionally, Herrick refused to submit to a chemical breath test as required under Alaska law. Herrick was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail in lieu of $5000 bond.

Text: On 10/04/2015 at about 2256 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Casey Zharoff, 25 of Homer, in a vehicle near mile 102 of the Seward Highway. On 10/03/2015 at about 0003 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI report regarding an intoxicated driver travelling southbound on the Seward Highway in Bird Creek. Troopers responded and located the vehicle at mile 99 of the Seward Highway. The driver, Kathryn Alderfer, 30 of Bird Creek, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Alderfer was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail in lieu of $250 bond.

On 10/6/15 at approximately 0053 hours AST conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane of travel while driving on North Miller Lp near Island Lake in Nikiski. The driver was identified as Kathleen Garland, age 55, of Florida. The investigation revealed Garland to be driving under the influence of alcohol; she also refused to provide a breath sample. Garland was placed under arrest and remanded to WWPT under the charges of DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test, with $1000 set as bail.

On 10/08/15 at 1953 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested William Connell (age 55 of Girdwood, AK) for DUI. Connell was called in as a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) for backing into a parked car at a bar in the Girdwood area. A witness gave Troopers the license number for the silver Mercedes-Benz passenger car. A records check confirmed Connell is the registered owner of the vehicle. Troopers contacted Connell at his Girdwood residence. The DUI investigation confirmed Connell was impaired and was driving the motor vehicle. Connell was transported and remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex with bail set at $3500. On 10/8/15 at approximately 2153 hours, Alaska State Troopers respond ed to a REDDI report on Knik Goose Bay Road. Troopers located a blue 1999 Ford Ranger pickup and conducted a traffic stop on Knik Goose Bay Road near Fern Road in Wasilla. An investigation revealed John Broach, age 60 of Eagle River, was driving under the influence of alcohol and while his license was revoked. Further investigation revealed Broach is on probation for the original charge of felony DUI. Broach was arrested for a second subsequent felony DUI, DWLR and probation violation. Broach was transported and reman ded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held pending arraignment.
